Greenholm Farms Host GRO Conference Tour!

Greenholm Farms & GRO Tour

On March 6 2013, Greenholm Farms hosted a bus full of interested participants as part of the Technology Tours day of the Green Rural Opportunities (GRO) Summit and Conference. Gord Green provided an in-depth tour of the technology operating at his plant and spoke candidly of the struggles and successes of their project.

Approximately thirty (30) people from all areas of the green energy industry participated in the tour. The GRO Summit and Conference takes place every March in London, ON and focuses on the users of green energy, clean technologies, bioproducts and byproducts, and how together the value change is built, connecting the dots, from farm to consumer (

PlanET is proud to be involved with the Greenholm Farms anaerobic digester project. PlanET, in conjunction with the Green family, designed, built, and commissioned the 250 kW biogas plant. Construction began in July of 2012 with excavation and construction of concrete tanks. Construction continued over the summer and into the fall. The plant was commissioned in November and December and has been generating power onto the local grid ever since Hydro One gave final permission in January. With help from PlanET’s microbiology department, Greenholm Farms will ramp up their feeding schedule to maintain full gas production and engine output.

Individuals interested in anaerobic digestion are welcome to contact Gregory Gray at 289-214-2651 or or the offices of PlanET Biogas Solutions in St. Catharines, Ontario at 905-935-1969. PlanET Biogas Solutions designs, constructs and services anaerobic digestion systems which produce biogas for use in combined heat and power packages or for sale to natural gas distributors.
